Magazine Design

I. How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of Magazine Design and the parts of a magazine cover and interior?

Using my knowledge of design and specifically magazine design, I was able to create a logical and engaging layout that can intrigue the reader. For example, I incorporated blue and yellow details scattered around the interior such as: the pull quote; the borders around large images; the colors within "League Spartan Bold", the bolder of the fonts used; the bars on the left side of the page, which separate different elements from each other; and behind the images in the top right corner, to make sure they don't get lost in white space.

II. In what ways does your magazine connect to the corporate identity of the magazine?What are some design queues that you used from the existing magazine?

Billboard tends to have a simplistic design. They use large sans serif fonts for the larger elements and titles. This creates a bold and clean look. In addition, Billboards uses simple and softer color schemes, the yellow and blue used demonstrates this component. The large "W" at the beginning of the body copy was a design queue that I used from an existing Billboard magazine.

III. How did you like working with a partner? How do you think working with a partner makes the design process easier and more difficult?

Working with a partner was an enjoyable experiences. The requirement to maintain unity throughout the design process made the process easier because we both had to think about the corporate identity and each other's designs constantly.

IV. Looking at your partner’s design, if you were to design your partner’s portion by yourself how would it look different?

If I were to change my partner's design, I would change the format of the cover lines such as possibly incorporating a sans-serif font.

V. Describe the ideal partner (co-worker / co –designer)?

The ideal partner would be one who designs in perfect unity with myself.
